APN in 'About modem' window is wrong?
Reported by Nick Hibma | March 30th, 2011 @ 05:43 PM
The APN mentioned in the 'About Modem' window is wrong ('office.vodafone.com'), or at least it does not match the APN I use on the SIM in the device ('Internet' (KPN)), or an APN I use on other SIMs (private APN, 'office.vodafone.nl' or 'live.vodafone.com'), so I don't know where it gets it from.
Is this a 'default' APN in the device? If so, I would be interested to know what AT command you used to get it.

The APN shown in the about screen comes directly from the modem - you may be using a connection script that sets a different APN at connect time.
The AT command used is AT+CGDCONT.

The connection 'script' is setting the APN through Network Preferences -> Huawei Mobile -> Vendor:Generic -> Model:GPRS/3G -> APN: .
That's why I am saying that it is confusing.

This little mac app provides you with signal strength, network mode (GRPS/WCDMA/HSDPA), network name control over your connection, and statistics about your current connection (current throughput, total data transferred, connection time). It does this through a little icon in your menu bar (and a bigger window, if you want to see it), and also helps you keep track of your usage - no need for a nasty surprise from your provider.
