Menu entry 'quit' not selectable

Reported by Nick Hibma | March 30th, 2011 @ 05:39 PM | in 1.5-MAS

I started CheetahWatch, connected, and all the while opening and closing the 'About Modem' window through the menu (see my other bug report on why I did that).

At some stage the 'Quit' menu entry was grayed out. Waiting did not help. I was able to 'kill' the app from the Terminal.

A screenshot of the menu is attached. The status window was responsive.

That looks to me like it thinks that the Software Updates screen is open - had you tried checking for updates recently?

That was with the 1.4 version and I don't think any updates where available. I could not find any open windows.

In any case, why is the 'quit' button greyed out anyway?

I just had a case where quit as well as status were greyed out. Unplugging the module and replugging it did not help. Restarting CheetahWatch (without replugging the modem) made things work again.

Me thinks the state machine in this app is confused. Why all the fiddling with the menu entries?

This little mac app provides you with signal strength, network mode (GRPS/WCDMA/HSDPA), network name control over your connection, and statistics about your current connection (current throughput, total data transferred, connection time). It does this through a little icon in your menu bar (and a bigger window, if you want to see it), and also helps you keep track of your usage - no need for a nasty surprise from your provider.
